Ministry Building Flooded! URGENT

On Monday, January 2, 2017, at approximately 6:00 p.m., Tyler and a friend entered the Shep- herd’s Call Ministry building for a quick tour and stepped into standing water! The building was ooded! Ty- ler ran into our home calling for me, “Dad! The ministry building is ooded! It’s really bad.”

My heart skipped a beat. Sure enough we discovered that the water supply line that feeds the toilet had broken. A $5 plastic part caused $14,000 of damage!

“Stop and take a deep breath and give this to God right now or you are going to spiral downward,” I said to myself.

After that prayer, and through the night, I continued to surrender so that God had my heart. By God’s grace I would not let the devil or self play with my thoughts or emotions. God would see us through.

I had closed the ministry at 3:00 p.m. on Friday in preparation for the Sabbath. I had planned on going to work early Monday morning; instead, I decided to take the New Year’s vacation day and be with my family. The break happened sometime between Friday afternoon and Monday evening. The extent of the flooding made it obvious the water had been owing for a consider- able amount of time. Hundreds of gallons were extracted.

I trust that God will not give us more than we can handle. He has promised, “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it” (1Corinthians 10:13).

God allowed the trial to come and will make a way for us to escape. The way to escape is through Christ. He will carry us through these hard times. I have learned that when we do not lean on God and allow Him to bear the trial, we then carry the burden ourselves and become discour- aged, overwhelmed, and even depressed under the weight of it. Gratefully, when we truly give the burden over to God for Him to carry, He is able because He is bigger than any problem in our lives, on this earth, and in the universe. Once the burden rests on His wide shoulders, then He can lead us through the trial to the solution. ripped out. A total loss.

Unfortunately, we have not been able to acquire insurance on the building! We were dropped by the company we had previously because it deter- mined that the ministry is more of a commercial building without commercial re suppression. Since we have too much expensive production gear, they will not assume the risk.

I cling to this promise, “The Father’s presence encircled Christ, and nothing befell Him but that which in nite love permitted for the blessing of the world. Here was His source of comfort, and it is for us. He who is imbued with the Spirit of Christ abides in Christ. The blow that is aimed at him falls upon the Saviour, who surrounds him with His presence. Whatever comes to him comes from Christ. He has no need to resist evil, for Christ is his defense. Nothing can touch him except by our Lord’s permission, and “all things” that are permitted “work together for good to them that love God.” Romans 8:28. (Thoughts from the Mount of Blessing, 71, emphasis added)

Wow, whatever comes to us comes from Christ. Furthermore, only He can see us through with grace and our surrender.

The flood could have been much worse. God protected the production equipment, and so far it looks as though the gear is okay. Thank you Lord!

We have started to rebuild and need help to finish the repairs.

“I cannot sing! My voice has been damaged! I need your prayers” URGENT

Cannot SingYes, the rumors are true. I have had vocal problems for about two years now. I have been able to sing “around” the problems. Despite that, the situation now has progressed to the point that I cannot even sing a simple song on our Messages of Faith program. You’ll note that this month’s DVD has no music on it! I have been trying for the last few months to sing one song to finish the message, but to no avail. This is the reason why my next album of hymns has not yet been completed.

In October I contacted a vocal center in Nashville to see if they could help to fix my vocal problems. After a telephone interview, it was decided that I first needed to address the causative factors with a local doctor to save money.

Without going into all of the details, I have had severe acid reflux for nearly two years. (Note: it is NOT due to my diet.) In the last nine months it has progressively gotten worse. What happens is that acid from my stomach spills into my mouth when I sleep and when I bend over. The acid then aspirates into my lungs, thus burning my esophagus, vocal chords, and trachea. Not good!

I saw an otolaryngologist (a specialist who diagnoses and manages diseases of the ears, nose, sinuses, larynx (voice box), mouth, and throat) this past summer. He looked at my vocal chords and stated that the entire area was severely inflamed and that I needed to stop singing and public speaking right away! He sent me away with two prescriptions and a referral to a gastroenterologist.

Due to my busy schedule I have not cancelled any of my speaking engagements, but I have stopped singing. In October I found a qualified gastrointestinal doctor; after a lengthy history, interview, and exam, he scheduled the first two of several tests to come. On December 4, I will have an endoscopy and a colonoscopy performed to physically look at my entire digestive track with cameras. He is concerned that there is a physical defect or problem that is causing the severe reflux. Ultimately, surgery may be a possibility.

The reality is that we are quite a distance from repairing my vocal problems. Nevertheless, I believe that the Lord is not yet finished and wants me to continue singing and preaching for Him! I am concerned that I have waited too long to see the specialist, however. Because we do not have health insurance, we do not just run to the doctor for every ache and pain. We have tried countless natural remedies, prescription drugs, and over-the-counter medications—all to no avail. So we know that there is something more going on, and it is time to get it fixed.

This entire process could potentially cost tens of thousands of dollars, of which we have not even a portion of it. By December 4, I will need to show up at the doctor’s office with $3,500 to get the 30% discount for cash-pay patients.

If the Lord so moves you to help us get through this medical problem so someday soon I can finish my album and get back to singing, I would be eternally grateful. Please mark your tax-deductible donation “Christian’s Medical.” Please pray that the doctors will be led by the Lord in finding and fixing this problem quickly. I am willing to do whatever it takes to get well and serve strongly.
